Both capstan winches use reliable and easy-to-maintain engines. The JJ-5B model uses a Honda 390 gasoline engine rated at 6.6kw, and starts with a hand rope while the JJC-5B model uses a direct injection diesel engine rated at 5.7kw with hand crank start.

The clutch transfers movement and power to the synchronous moving fixed seat utilizing an elastic couplet shaft device, promoting the contact of the clutch handle rotation and fixed taper surface to output motion and power through friction. Additional features of the clutch include fixed centricity, strong suction vibration ability, flexible operation, and easy lateral or radial positioning for operator use.
